Olly giggled and flapped his wings with excitement, so much so that he felt his little taloned feet lift off the floor. Surprised, he stopped, and plopped right back down.
"I...I can really fly?" he heard his voice chirp in his ear, surprising even him how young he sounded. "I can fly!" With a bound he leaped on his bed and spread his wings. He soared right off, landing deftly on the floor. He did this several more times until he got the hang of it his heart racing in his chest. He could fly on his own. "Ive got to try this outside!" All caution was thrown away as he went to the window, sliding it open, he perched on the edge of the roof. Looking down he saw how far it was below, and for a moment, something stirred in fear of him.
But then confidence welled up, though from where he didnt know.. And spreading his wings, he tried an experimental flap. His wings lifted him. Taking a breath, he jumped and flapped. The air caught under him as he came out...and he propelled forward.
~Right right, I want to go right!" He thought, knowing there was a tree. He felt his tailfeathers, and something instictual told him to flex the muscles there. He did so, and his tail acted like a rudder, turning him right. He careened around the tree.
~Woah! Now up up!~ he flapped and moved upwards, and then dipped his wings and went downwards. Olly's eyes were bright with joy as he continued to fly around his backyard, unaware however that....
