Splitting Heads

...Jamie's forehead felt like it was about to explode. Her headache turned into a migraine, and it got worse and worse, like her head was about to crack open like an egg. She looked at her bathroom mirror, scared to see if she would experience another weird vision like she had in her bedroom.

It wasn't like that, fortunately.

It was worse.

Way worse.

She spotted that her forehead was shifting, creating these weird movements like worms wiggling from the inside of her skin. She felt sick just watching them move, but she had the temptation to touch them. She had no idea why, but she felt like she needed to, in a flawed way of getting rid of them, to stop the painful feeling being placed on her head. The closer and closer she got, the more she actually felt these worm-like things in her head. She finally managed to touch her head, and...

...the migraine was gone. Just like that. It was over. It was finally over. And she looked at the mirror, seeing no weird looking worm things, she took in a breath of relief. Finally, it was over.

And then they started to sprout.

That head splitting feeling came back, as she winced in pain. As she opened her eyes, she could see those worm things fusing with her skin, standing up and flopping over. They continued to push out in great pain, making it hard to stand up right as the pain was too much. The more they came out, the less it hurt. Finally that pain stopped, but she was left to look at herself.

They dangled in the air, but they were attached to her. They were hers.

Her antennae.

She mumbled "This can't be real, this CAN'T be real" as she lifted her hand to touch them. They were sensitive at first, but her body got used to the touch of the palm of her hand. She couldn't go out like this. What would Annette say? Would she believe that this was happening? She believed that Jamie had make-up on, so would she know that this was happening to her? Did she mail the mirror to her? It was unlikely, but so was this.

She felt her ears starting to burn, right on the tips. "Oh great, that's what I need now. An earache and antennae" she thought. She couldn't go see Annette like this.
