Willa surveyed the scene from the police car. The angry man was red faced and screaming profanities at Roger and the poor crying woman in the dirt. Roger was trying to calm him but the man was beyond reason. Roger reached for his service weapon as the man started advancing on him.
Willa gulped. This could end poorly. But what if she used the app? She quickly targeted the man and pulled up a sentence. “This red faced bully is quickly advancing on the officer.”
Willa didn’t have time to be clever. She replaced ‘bully’ with ‘toddler’ and hit send. Just like that, the scene shifted. Now Roger looked jovial as a red faced tow headed three year old wobbled in his direction. The woman crying in the grass was now standing and looking much more put together. “Oh thank you for finding him, Officer,” she gushed. “I don’t know how he got out of the house.”
“Well,” Roger stated flatly. “Perhaps you should take more time looking after your kid and less drinking.” The woman gasped. “I’m half a mind to charge you with child endangerment.”
Crap, thought Willa. Not the happy ending I wanted. Maybe the app could help. She targeted the woman and read the sentence. “This woman is drunk and irresponsible.”
She pondered her options. Not a lot to work with. What could she change to fix this?
