"I can't just - griibit - wait until tomorrow to - griiibit - sort this out" the naked frog man complained as he winced at his increasingly freakish appearance in the mirror "this could be - griibit- much worse by then"
"I know" Nicola agreed "but what else can we do? The shop wasn't even there let alone open"
"Can't you - gribbit - check the address online?" James croaked. He would have done it himself if he still had opposable thumbs.
"I don't even remember what it was called" Nicola pulled out her phone and began tapping at the keys for a while "No, none of the magic shops within five miles of where we were are right. They're just selling stuff for children's parties"
She paused for a moment as another idea came to her "What was that old bag's name again? Martha?"
"Meredith" James corrected her "griibit!"
"Hmm okay, lets see" Nicola began quickly tapping away again "Ludgate Hill...Meredith...weird witch woman...transformations..."
Suddenly Nicola fell silent and a look of shock contorted her suddenly pale face.
"What is it griibit?" James hopped towards her "You look - like you've seen a - griibit - ghost"
"I think we might have done!"
Nicola sounded more rattled than James had ever heard her before as she turned her phone in his direction. On the screen was a highly accurate sketch of the woman from the store earlier that day.
"That's her, griibit!" James exclaimed with excitement.
"That picture was from 400 years ago" A chill ran down Nicola's spine as she spoke. She wasn't usually the type to believe in the supernatural, but in a world where her friend was turning into a frog in front of her eyes suddenly anything seemed possible.
"It says she used to sell potions and trinkets around that area." Nicola could barely bring herself to read the words "She was supposed to have been drowned for transforming some of her customers or taking control of their minds but she dissapeared without trace. There have been rumours about her showing up from time to time ever since"
James looked on in horror as he reached the same conclusion as his friend.
"That remote was just a prop, it didn't do anything to you" Nicola spoke cautiously, as if she might be overheard "she did"
