"Hey guys, it's me and Samson wishing you all a happy Earth Day," said Abby, "I know most of you are still stuck at home so it doesn't seem like there's much to celebrate. But from an environmental perspective, this might be one of our better Earth Days. Here's a satellite image of Europe from last year." Here, an image of Europe appeared, large areas of red and yellow over certain areas. "These show how carbon emission is in the air, particularly over cities. But since people have been driving less, look at it now." The map of Europe was much greener, though with a few yellow spots. "This won't be a long-term thing, but it make make the next year's weather a little more balanced."
"The wildlife is also benefiting from our self-containment," said Samson as various videos featuring animals roaming city streets appeared. "Since there are less humans around, animals are feeling more bold about moving into areas where humans are normally so thick. If nothing else, it will at least provide a little lightheartedness for people who are still stuck at home."
"But we've got some people who are stuck away from home," said Abby, "With the pandemic going on, international travel has ground to a halt. Quite a lot of people are trapped far from home."
"Are you referring to the people still stuck on cruise ships?" asked Samson.
"Not just them," said Abby, "There are people who were on vacation in places like Mieni Atoll who are finding themselves unable to go home."
"Well, it's hardly the worst place to be stuck," said Samson.
"True, but people still want to go back home. Not to mention the people who have jobs," said Abby.
"Oh, right," said Samson, "Well, I'm sure they're getting extended vacation time. Not to mention so many people are working from home these days."
"Well, it's not quite a pleasant time at every Animalian colony," said Abby.
"How so?" asked Samson.
"Well, Maelewano, along with the rest of Kenya, is suffering a plague of swarming locusts," said Abby.
"Isn't it a bit much to say it's a plague?" asked Samson. At that, a clip was shown of one part of Kenya were there were locusts absolutely everywhere. They covered the ground, hopping and flying from plant to plant, and filling the air with their buzzing. "I withdraw my question," said Samson, "How are they handling it in Maelewano?"
"Well, everyone's trying to help out as much as they can, but..." Abby paused to make sure she was reading her report right, "Apparently one can only eat so many locusts." She made a face at that. Even if she hadn't been converted into an herbivore, she doubted she'd ever eat a locust or any insect.
"So, what have we got in lighter news?" asked Samson.
"Well, we have something closer to home," said Abby, "We've been asking a few people sending us some photos and videos of how they're passing the time indoors. Probably the one worth the most mention would be from Nate Bowman."
"Nate Bowman? Say, isn't he from Wisconsin?" asked Samson.
"Yes, and he says he's doing well, his farm is safe, he misses Shuixing, and his family is driving him crazy," said Abby.
"I suppose dealing with his new uncle can get on his nerves," said Samson.
"Well, Nate has more than a new uncle now," said Abby.
"They're already expecting?" asked Samson.
"Maybe, I don't really know," said Abby, "Nate mostly talked about his dad's new girlfriend, or girlfriends perhaps."
"Oh, you mean those cows?" asked Samson.
"Well, being stuck at home with four amorous cows, what did you think would happen?" asked Abby.
At this point, there was a clip of Winslow coming out of his mouse hole and saying "Heya CatDo..." It then skipped to a picture of Ulysses sitting on a couch. He was now a bull Animalian, though smaller and less muscular than the Belgian Blues. But he was in pretty good shape now as could be seen by his bare shirt. On either side of him were the four cows leaning up against him. Their very sizeable breasts were held up in bikini tops that were looking a little too small. The clip returned to Winslow saying "Never mind" before walking back into his mouse hole.
"Well, lucky him," said Samson, "So which one is going to be his official wife?"
"Apparently Blueberry, but all the cows had a hand in his double-dosing," said Abby.
"Yeah, I can imagine," said Samson, trying to not his thoughts linger. It wasn't a good idea to get a stiffie on camera.
"And finally, we've got some news from Dinosaur City," said Abby.
"Pandemic still bad in Texas?" asked Samson.
"Unfortunately, but like the movie says 'Life finds a way'," said Abby, "For instance, William Tarr's reelection chances are pretty high."
"Any particular reason?" asked Samson, "Though who would run against him?"
"I don't really know. What I do know is that he accepted the proposal Cadence gave him," said Abby.
"What proposal?" asked Samson. Abby gave him a meaningful look. "Oh, that proposal," said Samson, "Well, congratulations. Has he already converted?"
"I'm not sure yet," said Abby, "Maybe they're saving it for later."
"Well, at least good things are happening to some people," said Samson.
"And that's about all the news we have today," said Abby.
"And we'd just like to tell you to stay safe, wash your hands, avoided crowded places, and keep your chins up," said Samson before they signed off.
