Louise had spent a lot of time getting to know the Ribbon family over the last few years. Most of that was spending time with Frederico. Under normal circumstances, people would have objections with someone who has a lover much, much younger than they are. However, the Animalian virus can bridge the age gap between people very easily. Though in Louise's case, it was a little one-sided. While she had double-dosed and returned to her prime, Frederico was still a younger seal who hasn't fully matured yet. Granted, he was going to be graduating from WSA at the end of the term, but that still left a noticeable gap between the two. Frederico's parents, Carlos and Freia made it clear they wanted their son to grow up naturally before there was any thoughts of marriage.
Louise respected their wishes. She tried not to think how a lot of her friends were having their own children. For Louise, a strong relationship meant more than just procreating. Besides, she had plenty of time to wait with her restored youth. And it wasn't like she and Frederico couldn't have fun. Well, a little less fun these days considering the pandemic and the quarantining. But at least Animalians' stronger immunity systems made it safer. Anyways, with the weather starting to warm up, it was time to start swimming again. Though it seemed unlikely that there would be any trips to Mieni Atoll soon.
But though Louise had been restraining herself, the same didn't apply to Frederico's parents. They too have been double-dosed when they were uplifted and with that came a younger seal's mating instincts. In fact, it wasn't much longer after Louise was converted that Freia became pregnant. It took a little bit longer than expected for to give birth, considering the ribbon seal's delayed implantation. But when their new pup was born, he came out a bundle of white fluff.
"You know, I forget just how fluffy seal pups are," said Louise as she was looking at Frederico's baby brother.
"Well, not all seal pups," said Freia, "But a lot of seals have fluffy white fur to help them camouflage and keep warm."
"I'm just glad we don't have to worry about anyone clubbing his head for his fur," said Carlos.
"Oh, no one actually does that," said Freia, "Who would be cruel enough to brain a baby?"
Louise kept her mouth shut. Sure, it may sound like something people would make up just to make someone seem cartoonishly bad. Though apparently that was how seals were hunted at one point. Louise was pretty sure that it's long since fallen out of practice by now. "Well, I hope my own pup will be as cute at this one," said Louise. Carlos and Freia gave her a level look. "Though that won't be until after I marry Frederico, which won't be until after he's graduated," said Louise.
"Don't get us wrong, we do want you to be part of the family," said Freia, "We just don't want Frederico to be rushed."
"Good things are worth waiting for," agreed Louise.
