She was about to respond when Robbie chimed in. "I'm hungry."
"Coming right up, Robbie," the voice said again. She cocked her head toward it with an audible crack as it repositioned itself. It was definitely coming from Toby. "Megan...sit..." Toby said.
The German Shepherd filled the bowl full of dried food, and then suddenly rose onto his hind legs, "Now eat up," he told Robbie. "Good boy." He turned his attention back to Megan.
Megan looked up at him from where she was on the ground, having sat when commanded, though not sure why.
"What am I going to do with you? Why can't you be more like Robbie?" Toby said, sternly.
Megan responded more to the tone, lowering her head, which actually made Toby to tower even more above her.
Robbie paused from where he was eating up food in the bowl. "I'm a good boy," he agreed.
Megan was becoming increasingly confused. Why was Robbie good and she wasn't? She licked the remants of the large bite of roast beef sandwich she'd taken off her lips and searched her mind trying to make sense of it.
