As Laura sleeps soundly in the crib, she doesn’t hear the return of Liz, her husband, and her daughter. Liz carries her sleeping daughter, still young enough to be breastfeeding, into the house. Her husband rushes to the bathroom and in the dark, knocks over the container with the dice. While Laura was not able to move them, the strength of a fully grown man is enough to cause the dice to roll again.
As Laura is a year old, the dice now decrease her age by the month. Unfortunately for her, the accidental roll results in an eleven. Asleep, she doesn’t hear the dice speak.
“Twelve months you have walked this Earth. Now this number is but one. Each roll of the dice returns more of what you have lost. Be warned you have no more months left to regain. Give the dice to a new bearer or risk the consequences.”
When Liz arrives in the nursery with her sleeping daughter, Laura has already shrunk to a month old and slept through the process. Liz turns on the light and is surprised to see a very young baby fast asleep in the crib, wearing a much too large diaper. Liz sets her daughter in the crib and removes Laura to change her into a diaper that will better fit her. Laura sleeps through the change, as well as Liz placing her back into the crib.
Liz decides to deal with the issue of the strange baby in the morning. She turns off the light and leaves the nursery.
