You stepped into the shop on a whim, guided only by depression and boredom. Another mother's day has come around, reminding you of a neglectful mother that left way back when you were young. Whether she was tired of a married family life, of just seeking something else, you grew up in a single parent household, without having experienced the affection of a maternal figure. Now in college, you had practically gotten over it, just suffering the trauma whenever this holiday came around.
As if the shop knew what you wanted, you literally smacked your face into a shelf, knocking a remote in a plastic packaging into your hands. "Ouch." you groan, holding up the supposed toy. 'Tired of your old mom? Get a new one with the Remother Remote!' The label read, making your turn it around to view the back. 'Like your friend's mom more? Make her yours. Think your neighbors dog would be a better mother? What about the random woman on the street? Furniture? Clothes? A tree? Simply aim the remote at what you want to be your mother, and watch the magic as she becomes motherly, doting on you as her child.'
"What a bunch of hooey." You scoff, just about to put the packaged remote back in its place. But, you find yourself unable to let go of it. "Would this really be able to let me make someone, or anything, my surrogate mother?" You ponder, maintaining a tight grip on the packaging. "Guess it'd be worth a shot." You conclude, bringing the remote to the front counter for purchase. "I can just turn them back to normal at the end of the day."
"An interesting choice." The old man running the store greets upon seeing you with the remote. "Gonna try it out for personal reasons." You explain, placing it on the counter. "You do refunds if it doesn't work?" The old man chuckled at your comment and nodded his head. "Aye, I'll give your money back in full if you're not satisfied. But I can assure you, it works perfectly. Just a piece of advice, be careful what you make your mother. Whatever she started out as can influence the type of mother she becomes." He warns you, sending you off and out the store with a wave. "Odd," you murmur, complying. "Still, better now than never to try it out!"
