Elspeth picked up one of the boxes nearest to her, it contained a cheap and fairly run of the mill cowboy action figure, exactly 6" in height according to writing at the bottom.
"Hmm, this seems about right" Elspeth nodded as she held the box in one hand while James stood in the palm of the other. As he looked acrosd at the plastic figure the costume seemed to vanish from it and appear on his own body. It was a truly surreal experience.
"There, how does that feel?" Elspeth asked as if it made any difference.
"Itchy" James admitted. It was pretty obvious this material hadn't been designed to be worn by an actual human.
"Well, I think you look rather dashing" the witch reassured James as she carried him back to the creche area and set him down on a table that had been painted to look like a cartoon town. He was surrounded by toy figures and animals that were at least the same size as him.
"You know, I hope you don't think I did this to you purely for my own amusement?" Elspeth checked with James as she sat on a stool and peered down at him.
"You didn't?" The little cowboy asked in surprise. She certainly seemed to have taken pleasure in embarassing him as much as possible.
"I'm trying to teach you to be more confident, to stop taking yourself so seriously and worrying what everyone else thinks about you" she seemed to sigh and chuckle at once "I really had no idea you would get this small this quickly"
"So can we go back now?" James wondered. Elspeth was about to answer when..
"Hey, that toy cowboy was talking!" A little an excited young boy ran over and looked down at James then across at Elspeth "That's so cool! Can I play with it a while?"
"Yes of course" Elspeth smiled. She then gave a look to James as if to encourage him to play along with this. But was he really prepared to do that?
