The young boy's giant excited face peered down at James in anticipation at what he was going to do next. James had no idea what that was supposed to be, but he realised defying Elspeth would probably be a bad idea if he ever wanted to get back to his usual height. Besides, maybe she was right. If he just relaxed and went with the flow he shouldn't get too embarassed, and he certainly couldn't afford to shrink much more than he had already. But what did a toy cowboy do anyway?
"Well, howdy there pardner!" James was relieved to hear that his adult voice had returned but he really couldn't pull off the American accent he was attempting with it "what's your name stranger?"
"Daniel" the boy answered earnestly "what's yours?"
"James. And I'm the fastest shooting cowboy in the west!"
"Um, miss? Do you have any other toys?" The boy asked Elspeth after a brief, awkward pause.
"Why? Don't you like cowboys?" Elspeth asked sympathetically.
"Not really" Daniel shook his head "It's really cool that he can talk to me though"
"Well, you know, James is a very special toy. He can become whatever you want him to be" Elspeth winked.
"Woah, really!" The boy looked at her in wide eyed amazement "that's so cool!"
"Isn't it?" The witch smiled "so tell me, what would you like James to become?"
James could only look up in horror as Elspeth negotiated his immediate future with a small child.
"Well, I think it would be cool if he was a.."
