"Well, there is going to be so much food lying around this evening, I think that would be the easiest thing to disguise you as" Elspeth decided.
"Food?" James started to panic "but what if..."
"You won't get eaten" Elspeth finished his sentence for him in a manner that suggested she thought he was overreacting to the prospect of becoming edible "I will leave you here with the leftovers. There is nothing for you to worry about"
But James was worried. What if something went wrong? What if Elspeth had too much of the copious amounts of wine he could see and forgot what he had become? And besides, being turned into food just sounded so awful and demeaning that, even if his safety could be guaranteed he still couldn't just sit there and let this happen.
Despite seemingly viewing James as a purchasable good that could be transformed at her convenience Elspeth didn't seem like a cruel woman. Perhaps he could dissuade her from this course of action.
