Laura is jumping around, giggling happily, when suddenly, she feels someone shove her. She falls down, skinning her hands and knees. Her instincts take over and she wails loudly.
“Stupid baby,” scoffs the person who pushed her, a boy who looks to be in middle school. He’s joined by another boy his age. The second boy sneers at Laura.
“Why do they even let babies play in the pool?” he asks his friend. “They’ll just fill it with poop and pee.” Laura stands up, about to defend herself, when she lets out a loud fart. Her face turns red as she feels her bowels empty into her swim diaper. “See? She just pooped!”
“Ugh, and it smells awful!” the first boy says. He grabs Laura’s hand and roughly drags her out of the shallow pool. Once out of the pool, he shoves her to the ground again. The poop in Laura’s swim diaper smears over her butt. “Poopy babies can’t be in the pool!”
“Poopy baby!” taunts the second boy. Laura begins to cry again. She hurts from being shoved so roughly, she’s filthy from her soiled swim diaper, and she can’t believe that she’s been reduced to this. A toddler being teased by middle schoolers. A middle-aged woman storms over.
“Zachary! Owen! What are you doing?” the woman demands. The boys immediately stop laughing at Laura. “Were you teasing this little girl?”
“No, we-”
“Yes!” Laura wails. The woman scowls.
“That’s it, we’re leaving. I’ve told you over and over again to leave the babies alone. If you can’t play nice, you can’t play at all!” She drags the boys away, leaving Laura on the concrete in her messy swim diaper, still sobbing.
