Inside the school, Jeff and Amy were starting to attract attention. As they walked down the hall to their first class, Amy noticed that everyone they passed was looking at her and Jeff. People started to make comments and one boy walked right up to her and honked her nose.
"I'm not feeling well, Jeff," said Amy. "Will you please wait for me while I go to the ladies room?"
"Sure," Jeff said. While he waited by the restroom, a crowd gathered around him. The kids started taunting him.
"Hey bozo!" "Where's your clownfriend? Did she trip over her own shoes" "You guys made an adorable couple - of freaks"
It seemed like Amy had been in the bathroom forever. Finally Jeff spoke, "Look, this costume is for show and tell today. You'll see what it's for then." Finally, the bell rang and the kids dispersed to their classes. Amy walked out of the bathroom.
"JEFF, WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME!?" she cried. "I thought it would be fun, but all the attention scared me so I tried to wash my face paint off. I scrubbed and scrubbed and I'm still a clown! Why am I stuck as a clown?"
"Well, you see," said Jeff, "I went to this carnival over the weekend and got this face paint. I just didn't see a warning saying that it would be permanent for 10 days, so now I'm stuck like this for another week."
"So your plan was to trick your classmates into wearing permanent face paint so you could transform them into other creatures for a week too? That's really selfish!"
"Put yourself in my shoes, I don't want to be the odd one out looking like a freak for the rest of the week! I'm sorry you're stuck too, but now you can help me paint twice as many faces. That way you won't be the only girl in school with a clown face."
"I guess you're right," said Amy. "Let's go transform as many kids as we can. Dibs on the bullies!"
