They walked into their first class well after the bell had rang. The entire class starred at them.
"Oh my, what do we have here?" the teacher said. "Jeff? Amy? I almost didn't recognize you under all that makeup. Well since you came in late, it seems only fair that you should present first. What do you have to show us?"
"W-w-well," Jeff stuttered. "We've learned how to paint faces, and we'd like to present it as a demonstration. We just need a few volunteers." The room was completely quiet; nobody moved. "Just ONE volunteer at least?" Jeff begged. Again silence.
"Not an overwhelming turnout!" Amy whispered.
Finally a little girl in the back spoke up, "Can you make me a butterfly?"
"Sure, come on up," said Jeff. Inspired by her confidence, the girl's friend came up to Amy wanting a unicorn face. After Jeff and Amy finished, Jeff taunted the boys, "You guys act all tough, but those little girls were brave enough to get face painted. I don't see you standing up!"
"Fine! Give me a skull," one boy said. "Make me a monster!" "Can I be a dragon?" "Oooh I wanna be a tiger!"
Two by two the kids came up and got transformed into what they wanted to be. With each brushstroke, the paint soaked into their skin, unknowingly giving them a more permanent makeover then they had planned for.
After all the students got painted, the teacher stood up. "That's all the time we have today. Everyone else, I'm sorry, but you'll have to bring your items back tomorrow." Turing to Jeff and Amy she said, "That was wonderful; I'd like to talk to the principal about you demonstrating this to the whole school assembly!
Jeff looked at Amy. She nodded. It might be possible to transform the entire school; they just needed a little help.
