After returning to the mascot break room and slipping the stolen map into the grating, the standard sequence of events played out.
A loudspeaker announced dinner and you all lined up at the food dispensers. This time your meal resembled a giant cookie and once again it was delicious in a way that was difficult to identify.
Next was shower time, the hot water and fresh clothes bringing some much-needed relief to your tired body.
After that it was free time until bed. You realized that your thoughts were at their most lucid around this time of day. You found yourself thinking about your old life again, and the horror of being trapped in the body of a doll mascot. For some reason it felt almost natural when you were wandering the park or performing the duties that the loudspeakers instructed you to do.
Why hadn't you freaked out when the cold metal machines in the shower stripped you naked and revealed your sexless mascot body? It really should have bothered you more.
An unfamiliar cheetah girl mascot in a vest marked "SECURITY" suddenly approached you, derailing your train of thought.
"Lucy the Doll?" she asked impassively.
You nodded.
"I'm here to escort you to the doctor's office for your check-up."
"Oh u-um, okay." You squeaked.
"There's nothing to be afraid of. Come with me."
She grabbed you by the hand and led you out of the break room like a parent walking a child.
As she led you through the park, you realized you were approaching Transylvania Town. Oh no.
Your palms began to sweat as you approached the two-dimensional facade of a hunted mansion. It was even spookier after dark. You squirmed anxiously.
The cheetah security guard knocked twice on the mansion door and it opened up into a silver elevator.
The two of you entered and it immediately started traveling downwards.
After a while the elevator shuddered to a stop and the doors slid open to reveal a typical doctor's waiting room, but with an odd patchwork theme.
Both the walls and the floor were patterned to resemble large squares of stitched-together fabric.
There was only one door, labelled "Dr. N. Zyme, M.D., H.E."
One of the waiting room seats was occupied by a t-rex mascot in a baseball cap who appeared to be nursing a toothache.
"This is your stop, kid." The cheetah woman grunted, shoving you out and closing the elevator door behind you.
You took a seat next to the t-rex boy and waited patiently for your turn.
Every so often he would turn to look at you, but when you looked back he would quickly turn away. This continued for a long time.
After what seemed like an hour, the door cracked open and a woman's voice called out, "Living Doll, Lucy"
You stood up and hurried into the doctor's office, dying to escape the awkwardness.
The doctor's office was small and mostly bare. It had the same patchwork theme as the waiting room but in more sterile colors like white and green. A raised surface resembling a hospital was situated directly in the middle of the room and a desk with a computer sat in the far corner next to an overflowing bookshelf.
Standing before the bed was a woman who looked somewhere between a human and a mascot.
She was dressed in a long white doctor's coat and her skin was a patchwork of green and blue stitched-together pieces.
Her hair was worn up in a pair of buns and was split down the middle, one side white and the other black.
She also wore large, round glasses with thin frames, and a pair of small buck teeth poked out from under her lip.
"Close the door behind you and remove your clothes." She ordered, in an authoritative yet nerdy voice."Today we will be performing a routine check-up."
As you pulled your dress up over your head and handed it to the doctor, you remembered that this was your chance to get some answers.
