“We can probably wait a bit before heading to the magic shop,” Kaitlin says. “You know, enjoy our youth for a little while.”
“Yeah,” Laura says, nodding.
“Let’s look around and find something to do. Then we can go to the magic shop.” Kaitlin and Laura leave the clothing store and begin to wander around the mall. Some toy stores catch their eyes, but after catching sight of the price tags, they opt not to go inside. Eventually, they stumble across a play area near the food court.
“That looks fun,” Laura says to Kaitlin. Kaitlin nods. “But I’m kind of hungry.”
“Me, too. Do you still have your wallet?” Kaitlin looks sheepish. “I dropped mine in the theater.”
“I’ve got mine. Let’s get something to eat.” Laura and Kaitlin look around the food court for a few minutes before deciding on frozen yogurt. They get their frozen treats and sit down at an empty table to eat them. A few adults glance at the unattended children, but don’t say anything.
Once finished with their frozen yogurt, they make a beeline for the play area, where they excitedly join the groups of elementary school-aged children. Kaitlin and Laura quickly get caught up in the games, enjoying themselves just as much as their peers.
