Misunderstood by users, there are laws to reality that the Chronivac cannot mess with, and had to work with. By erasing his father from existence...if temporarily, but keeping himself, he had created a paradox of sorts. Teenage boys don't just live alone...and his father was his only living family.
At the same time, he'd brought Anita into existence and programmed her to have two parents....who didn't exist. So, from an outsider perspective, the house would be occupied that night by two teenagers with no parental supervision. Reality just didn't work that way. If the program said Anita had parents, the Chronivac would have to execute on that requirement. As for Jeff, he hadn't touched any of his parameters, except awareness....the only change was that he now had no father...at least on record.
As the two cuddled, the Chronivac spit out an error message."Inconsistency....updating program to address issue." It began to work on the problem. Jeff didn't notice, watching TV, that the house was changing subtly...after all, a boy with no family didn't need a house...but the Ramirez family did...
