Once again I found myself waking up there was something different this time though; as I lifted my arm to check what I felt, my arm was stopped. My head jerked up and I saw a strap holding my arm down.
Testing my other limbs met the same result.
Looking around I quickly noticed that the room had changed. It was a bit smaller with little to nothing on the counter tops and locks on the drawers. I also noticed the lack of a window.
The bed I found myself now attached to seemed to be bolted to the ground and was securely in place; next to the strap you noticed a button imbedded in the bed labeled call with a picture of a phone.
Attached right below the call button was a sticky note with:
“Press me” and an arrow pointing at the button.
Realizing I may have gone a bit overboard with panic when I woke up last time I reluctantly press the button and wait.
It didn’t take long before I heard the jingle of keys in the door and it opened. But what I initially found surprising was the lack of a burly penguin walking in and instead what greeted me was a small red squirrel with a massive fluffy tail walking in. she was small compared to the doctor, if I were to guess she may be about my height if a bit smaller. She walked in and stopped just in front of the door.
“Good afternoon Ms. Drumsticks. How are you feeling?”
“G-good” you stutter out realizing you were a bit parched.
“Better then before?” she asked rising an eyebrow.
“Yes, my circumstance kinda hit me all at once and I may have panicked a little bit.”
“hmm, yes maybe just a tad” she giggled and winked “well I am glad to see you doing better, we were quite worried you were going to hurt yourself in your panic. Are you hurting anywhere? The doctor mentioned something about your mind.” She trailed off looking at her clipboard.”
Ah, yes my mind is fine” you said blushing a bit. “But now that you mention it my head does hurt a bit. What happened?
“Last night you fainted while talking to legal Ludwig and Milly, apparently as you fell you hit your head on the edge of the table causing you to need a couple stitches but other then that you appear to be in good health.” She said after glancing at the clipboard.
“In your panic you tore a few of the stiches so we fixed them back up. Would it be ok if I brought the doctor in to check on the stitches and make sure you are on the up and up?” she said lowering her clipboard.
“Hmm, it should be fine but did you need my permission?”
She nodded saying “We felt it was best considering the last time you saw him you started panicking. I know he is big but he really is just a big softy.”
“Oh…yeah, that was just bad timing. ” again blushing
“That is good to hear, now please allow me to introduce myself properly, my name is Dr. Suzie Redcheeks; you see, I may be the resident nurse here but I actually wear many hats; my main job is the resident psychiatrist but we don’t get many cases where my skills are needed all that often so I help out Dr. Z as his nurse. But we can table that for now, I would like to meet with you soon but you have a few more pressing things to attend to before that. That being said I would like to extend an invitation to you to visit me when you need, I do want to help you if you need it.” She said as she walked closer to the bed.
“Now before we bring in Dr. Z are you truly fine with him? He is big and muscular but as I have said before he really is very nice. But if you are feeling uncomfortable with him, I should be able to do most of the tests without him if you would feel more comfortable with a female doing the tests.” She said with a smile.
“It should be fine, it was a moment of weakness and it escalate quickly. A lot has happened recently and it just came to a boil right then.” You say looking to the side feeling embarrassed for your panic before.
“No need to feel embarrassed Ms Drumstick, Milly said you were under a lot of stress before. Now then, allow me to get the doctor and we can get started. I do have a note here that when you are released you have a meeting with Milly and Ludwig so it would be best to get things started so you can get to that meeting.” she finished excitedly, As she got to the bed she pressed the call button.
At that the doors lock clicked and in a much more subdued way Dr. Z stepped into the room.
After a quick apology for the panic attack during your first meeting they were able to do a quick check up on you and changed the bandage on your head one more time you were released to go to your meeting.
