As soon as Marina stepped through the door, she rushed to her dining room table, not bothering to change from her swimsuit. She put the briefcase on the table and shouted "Anybody home?!". When no reply came, she proceeded to open the briefcase and examine the vial.
The liquid inside it was translucent... but it wasn't colourless. It was tinted blue, and reminded her of the mouthwash she'd use every morning and night. She opened the vial, the cork making a small *pop* noise as it came off. There was a small label wrapped around the vial. As she looked closely, she noticed that it looked like instructions had been written on it for... consumption?? This was drinkable? "Huh... maybe it is just mouthwash" the chuckled to herself. While Marina kept studying the label, she read that you could also inject this solution into the blood stream. "Hmmm..." She gently brought the vial up to her nose and gave it a sniff. Odorless.
Marina's curiosity was starting to peak at this point. She wanted to know what was in this vial. She brought everything up to her room, and went into her bathroom, setting the vial by her things (hidden behind the big container of mouthwash of course. She didn't want anyone else seeing this. Just as she'd concealed it, she heard the front door open. "I'm home!". Marina groaned. Her little brother, Thomas, being 7 years younger than her, was a pain to say the least. He always found ways to prank her, no matter where or when. He was always judgemental, and was in the annoying phase right before the teens where she just wanted to kick his ass. "How was school?" Marina replied with as much enthusiasm she could muster. "It was school... what do you expect me to say?" She heard him say, the last part almost to himself. He ran upstairs and into his room, which was right across from Marina's, and shut the door behind him.
Soon, the front door opened again. "Hey kiddos! I'm home!". Marina smiled and ran down the stairs. "Dad! I thought you were working late today!" She said as she embraced him, hugging him tightly. "I was, but I figured that family is really important, and that I wanted to have dinner with you guys instead" he replied with a smile. She smiled back, and told her about her day at school and at the beach (besides the briefcase of course).
Meanwhile...
