As the Preston family sat down to eat, Thomas looked over with anticipation at Marina. However, his train of thought was interrupted. *cling* *cling*. Their father stood up, clanking is glass with his fork. "Excuse me, but I would just like to make a toast. To my wonderful daughter..." he looks at her with a smile, and she smiled widely back. "...and my incredible son!" He looked at Thomas, who stared back at him with a grin. Dad was such a cheeseball.
They all raised their glasses in a toast, and drank from them. Thomas glanced at Marina gulping down half the glass as he sipped on his. He knew that if it was one thing she loved, it was the sea, rock music, and coke. He smirked at her, suppressing a giggle. She looked at him, tilting her head in confusion. "What's gotten into you?" She asks. "Nothing... almost burped" he lied through his teeth. Marina shrugged as they started eating. She bought it. "So Thomas... how was school?" Daniel asked. "Oh the usual... we had soccer practice today, and I actually saved a few goals!" Thomas said with a proud grin. His dad smiled back at him in approval. They talked about their days, and many other things as they ate their oven back salmon with rice and fresh greens (fisherman's diet I guess).
Three hours had gone by since they sat down to eat, and it was now 9 pm. Mr. Preston looked at the time, and his eyes widened a little in surprise. "Wow! Time sure flies! Thomas, you need to get ready for bed... you didn't have any homework did you?" "Nah, but if I know my English teacher, Mrs. Thatcher, I will be getting some tomorrow" he said with a sigh at the end. "Alright. Marina, could you give me a hand with these dishes?" Their father asked her. "Sure!" She replied, always willing to help her dad. They brought everything to the sink while Thomas went upstairs. He quickly snuck in to her room and placed the vial back behind the Listerine. Since it was cracked at the bottom, she'll have thought it leaked out... maybe... probably... Thomas chuckled to himself, before going back to his room, his tracks covered.
