Marina and her dad worked efficiently together, and did the dishes in silence. There was however a question on her mind, one that she felt she needed to ask him. "Hey, dad?" She asked, glancing at him. "Yeah hon?" He said, looking down and diligently doing the dishes. "How has your... love life been..?" He stopped as she said that.
He put down the pan he was washing and sighed. "Well..." he chuckles "That's a tough one." He looks at Marina, a sadness slowly filling his gaze. "When your mom.. passed away.." he began. "It took a long time for me to grieve her.. she was the light of my life." He said with a solemn smile. "No matter how upset I was, or how bad things got with my business, she was always there to console me, and stand by me." He looked at Marina, a tear running from his eye. "You remind me of her so much. It's hard not to see her in you" he said, putting his hand on her cheek, stroking it delicately with his callused hand. "But I'm moving on as best as I can" he said as Marina hugged her father tightly. She looked at him, her father being a lot taller than her 5 foot 7 inch frame. "So I guess that's a no?" She said, making herself and her father laugh. "A not yet I suppose" he replies.
They both walk up the stairs, saying goodnight to each other as Marina enters her room. She closes her door and flops onto the bed. She sighed and looked at the ceiling, thinking about her day. The vial, the note, her dad. She stood up and walked to her bathroom, getting ready for bed. She was so tired, and for some reason she had a weird taste in her mouth. Almost numbing. "Hmm... too much coke maybe" she chuckled to herself. She went back to bed, crawling under the covers and quickly falling asleep. While she slept, she dreamt of swimming deep in the underwater depths, exploring a ship wreck. While she dreamt, her feet popped as they widened slightly. Her toes spread apart a little, as thin flaps of skin grew between her toes, about halfway to the tips of her toes. She wiggled her toes as she dreamt, the new webbing between Marina's toes stretching slightly,
