Just as Kelly turned a corner and left Jennifer’s sight, she spotted her boyfriend, Ryan, walking towards her. She swallowed nervously, afraid of what he might say or do. Ryan walked up to her and stuck a finger down the back of her diaper, making her yelp in shock.
“Not wet yet,” he said. “All right. Come on, Kelly, time for class.” Ryan walked with Kelly to her class. Kelly waited outside the classroom for the kiss that she always got when Ryan walked her to class. He looked down at her. “What?”
“No kiss?” Kelly asked. Ryan laughed.
“Don’t you remember?” he asked. “When you got turned into a toddler last week, we broke up! Instead of being your boyfriend, I’m your caretaker at school.” Kelly’s heart sank. “Now, get into class. You know where to find me if you need a change. If you don’t need one before lunch, I’ll see you then. Cheerios and mushed beets today.” Kelly watched her ex-boyfriend walk away, dreading everything: class, needing a change, and lunch, which was apparently now baby and toddler food.
“What are you doing outside the classroom, Kelly?” asked a voice. Kelly turned around. It was the classmate that sat next to her in this class, Lisa. “Losing your potty training isn’t an excuse for skipping.” Lisa took Kelly’s hand and led her into the classroom. Where Kelly’s desk had been yesterday, there was now a playpen. Lisa placed Kelly in the playpen and then handed her what she would need for the class. To Kelly’s growing horror, her school supplies had been replaced with things that a toddler would use. Her nice pencils were large crayons, her neat notebooks were now notebooks a toddler might color in, and her textbooks were picture books with large font and small words.
Determined to make the best of things, Kelly set herself up in the playpen. She waited for the teacher to come in. Hopefully, her new age wouldn’t change how class went. After all, she was in her favorite class:
