The fourth reflection, a world split asunder.
The sealing of the dark god was followed by an immense power struggle so great Ithulmia and its neighboring territories fractured the very continent into pieces.
Fueled by the eternal war and widespread unrest, Corruption leaked forth from the remains of the Echoed Obelisk; yet the radiance from the god of light had not fully faded from this reality.
Once more at a subconscious war with each other, the essences of light and dark inadvertently melded together, birthing a race of spiritual entities transforming all in their wake. Gaining sentience, these spirits born of the twin gods would be revered as gods by humans; those pledging themselves seeing their bodies transformed as the spirits deemed fit.
In time, various nations throughout Ithulmia would break away from one another, retreating to distant corners of the land now known as Alm'othia to worship spirits they viewed as their saviors.
Millenia have passed since those days, and the continent remains fractured to this very day. Clans of all sorts reign dominion over select parts of the world, increasingly territorial; and should an individual from a foreign clan step foot into rival territory, will they find themselves converted.
Of the many formed, four clans hold the most power:
To the north in the deep recesses of the blackened swamp, rest those pledging themselves to the reptilian deity.
To the west in the eternal plateau, rest those pledging their bodies to the coexistent lupine and feline deities.
To the south far up in the endless mountains, rest those baring their souls to the twin avian deities.
To the east in the vast oceans and rivers, rest those pledging themselves to the aquatic deity.
That is not to say humanity had completely gone extinct, far from it in fact. While their numbers dwindle, humans continue to occupy the central remnants of their wayward kingdom; all while various patriarchs of the spirits seek to persuade them to sacrifice their humanity in worship of their spiritual deities.
Tensions grow and grow between all factions, as though complete anarchy threatens to overtake an already decimated remnant of what once was.
A pathetic human will serve as your eyes to this world; sought by clans seeking to convert, though it remains to be seen as to who...
