You get back to your classroom and discover that your entire class were all Chinese now! It became clear to you that whatever power it was that changed you, it also changed your classmates.
Mr Wu redirects his attention to you and says: "Please, Chi, take a seat." He tells you.
At this point, it was not surprising to hear your new Chinese name, but what was surprising were the thoughts that crept into your mind —thoughts of being Xie Chi or (Chase), a third-generation, Asian-American who recently celebrated his 10th birthday seemed all too familiar, and a few Mandarin words began carving themselves into your head. The newfound memories reveal that you were no longer in your old high school but in some kind of unfamiliar international elementary school.
"This isn't right. I'm beginning to think like one!" You think to yourself, and then diverted your gaze to your seat where your friend Lance-now a young Asian boy like you-was sitting right next to it. Lance bared no resemblance to his former self from his crew-cut, jet black hair to his slightly darker skin, or his now monolid shaped eyes, that were now dark brown, and the school uniform all of you were now wearing.
Whatever mental changes occurred here, they've already been finalized with your classmates, and you knew you'd be next if you stayed in this class any longer.
"Uh… Mr Wu, I don't think I'm supposed to be here." You told him in your unfamiliar, childish voice.
"Chi, you enlisted for this class, don't you remember?" Mr Wu asks. "No matter, you could change your class or program if you want to. Head to the hallway, and you'll see your options." And so you did and found a list of different classes —part of a school linguistical program that you had every Tuesday.
The list of classes was hanging on the wall, and the options cover different languages from Irish Gaelic to Swahili, Russian, and Spanish.
