While still searching for one he liked, John was just about to give in the towel and call the whole thing off. If Carrie still wanted to do it, she could, but this was just becoming too much of a hassle for her husband. That is... until he came in contact with a strange white robe.
The robe itself was thin, and breathable, adorned in black and gold accents along the trim. Flowing sleeves, a sash around the waist, and slit that ran down the left side gave the whole outfit a regal look to it, but something was missing. Now holding the outfit in his free hand, John almost felt a strange hypnotic pull guiding his movements as he found several beautiful jewel bracelets, anklets, necklaces, and so on. A single fingerless elbow glove, a pair of toeless stockings with the same black and gold trim, and quite a few jeweled piercings to boot, all of which were scattered about in random places, yet he seemed to have found every single one.
It was bizarre looking down at the assortment of items he'd found such a short amount of time, all of which would- in all fairness- look fairly strange on a man of his size. Wrapping the jewels in the robe, he half considered on tossing them all aside when his wife called over to him.
"Hey, did you find one you like yet, honey?" Carrie asked with a chipper tone, seeing him holding the robe in both of his arms now. John wanted to say no, to drop it all right where he stood and start over, but... but he couldn't. Something was telling him that THIS was the costume for him.
Swallowing his pride, John nodded back towards his wife with a smile and said, "I uh... I think so, yeah!"
"Me too!" Carrie replied sweetly, walking over to him as she held up a cute purple button up blouse and a large bow. "Not sure what this outfit was supposed to be, but I kinda like it. What about you?"
"I think just about anything looks good on you," John teased, earning a girlish blush and giggle from his wife, "And I've got no idea what mine is either. Guess we'll find together, huh?"
"You bet!" Carried grinned.
"You two all set?" the attendant asked the two lovebirds and waited for a reply. As John nodded his head, she waved to them to follow, "Then let's get you two to the booths." Without much choice the two did just that, listening intently as she explained several key factors they weren't aware of beforehand. Namely that every booth was closed off and was single person setup due to an accident where some poor siblings got fused together. Well, better safe than sorry.
In no time at all, the two had been squared away and where no sitting in their own booths. John, of course, being more concerned about what was going to happen than his wife. He only hoped that this 'toonifaction' didn't mess with his head. As these thought were running through his head, a soft, soothing voice began to come from somewhere in the booth.
"Welcome to the TB XB-4 unit. Please relax and place your clothing options on the table before you," Without much else to do, John did as he was told and was once again greeted by the calming voice, "Thank you. This booth will attempt to match your personality, physical
attributes, and chosen attire with the appropriate cartoon features. Please do not be alarmed if you experience sudden growth, shrinkage, species alteration, or other various physical changes as they are part of the process to achieving your desired toonification."
Wait, what? John wasn't so sure he liked what he was hearing, "Hold on a minute! I thought I had a choice in this!"
"I'm sorry, John, but the current limitations of XB-4 model do not allow for self modification anymore. Please stand by for subject evaluation."
John tried to turn away and opened the door to the booth, only find it locked tight as if barred from the other side. It was too late. Whatever this machine was about to do to him, John would have to greet his teeth and just endure it...
