Jared croaked harshly again as he saw his brother turn toward him with an eager smile and something that Jared hadn't noticed earlier. Kevin held a long-handled mesh net in his right hand.
"What's he doing..." Jared had time to wonder before Kevin used the net to scoop the frog from the pond. He tried to hop, but got tangled in the mesh weave.
"That's probably enough for now," Kevin said aloud, walking the net over to a waiting bucket, which Jared had also failed to detect earlier. He upended the net and dumped the last of his collected frogs to join its fellow amphibians deep in the tall, plastic bucket.
"Ohh! Gross!" Jared thought as he felt the slimy bodies of other frogs pressed against his own.
There was no room at all inside the bucket, and things got much worse when Kevin grabbed the handle and started toting the bucket toward home. All the captured frogs were thrown together in a writhing heap of slimy bodies and webbed limbs.
"Kevin! Stop!" Jared tried to scream but only croaked. "It's me!"
