Another day, another dollar. And another lousy shift at your part-time job that barely paid above minimum wage.
As you made your way through the parking garage you were stopped by a well-dressed, professional looking woman with a clipboard accompanied by a burly asian man in a black suit and sunglasses.
The woman adjusted her stylish glasses and spoke, "Alex Williams?"
Staring dumbfounded for a moment, you nodded in the affirmative.
Ticking something on her clipboard, she replied "Would you please come with us?"
Something about this situation was setting off major danger alarms in your head. Adjusting your position and shifting to walk past them, you replied "What is this about, exactly? If you don't tell me, I'm just going home."
As you began to walk around them, the large man suddenly stepped forward to intercept you.
The woman calmly looked you right in the eyes and said "Please co-operate with us. We've simply been tasked by our employer to bring you to a certain place, safe and sound. We certainly wouldn't want this situation to become... unpleasant, would we, Mr. Lee?" She turned to her companion.
The large asian man let out a low grunt, a sound like a bull ready to charge.
The pair began to walk you towards a parked van. Plain and white, with dark tinted windows.
You'd seen this van before. Parked across the street from your house, sometimes for days at a time. Occasionally you saw it parked just outside your workplace. Back then, you had convinced yourself that you were being paranoid, that it was probably just a coincidence.
That was seeming unlikely now.
The three of you piled into the van, first the woman, then you, and finally the giant man in the black suit.
Various devices lined the surprisingly sleek interior of the vehicle.
"Look, I don't know what's going on, but I don't have any money. I can barely pay my rent as-is" You began, nervously.
"We have no intention of robbing or extorting you." the woman replied coldly, "As I said, we are simply here to deliver you and to verify a few things."
"At least tell me where you intend to take me! People will wonder where I am! They'll probably call the police if I'm gone for too long!" you bluffed.
The woman simply smiled and replied, "I very much doubt that. We've investigated you thoroughly. We know that you're a new arrival in town. We know that you're estranged from your family and that you make virtually no outside contact. Even your co-workers barely acknowledge you and expect you to flake out and quit your job. Put simply, very few questions would be raised by your disappearance, if anyone even noticed in the first place."
You just stared at her, aghast. "What do you want from me?"
"Well, the delivery looks to be on schedule, so let us move on to the verification."
She turned a page on her clipboard and began to ask you questions.
Your blood type, known allergies, previous lung or heart issues... all of her questions were strangely clinical in nature.
Almost as soon you finished your little Q&A session, the vehicle came to a sudden halt.
"Thank you very much, Alex. We had already obtained much of your medical information, but the Doctor is quite thorough, and always asks us to double-check." The woman smiled.
"Doc...tor?" You wheezed, feeling strangely sluggish all of a sudden.
Your vision began to blur around the edges, everything was going dark.
As you slumped over in your seat and your vision faded, the last thing you saw was Mr. Lee holding some kind of injector-gun.
In an instant, you were out cold.
