The reception is apparently being held at a hotel. Jess tries to squirm free, but the woman carrying her merely tightens her grip. They don’t enter the large hall that the reception is being held in. Instead, they go up a few floors and to a room that is being rented for the night by someone in the wedding party. The woman knocks on the door.
“Here’s the flower girl!” the woman says to the man that opens the door. “She was very well-behaved during the ceremony, but she started fussing a bit on the way here. I think she might be hungry.”
“Not a problem. I can handle it.” The man takes Jess. “What was her name again?”
“Annabelle.”
“All right. Annabelle.”
“Think you can take care of her for the night? I haven’t heard anything from her parents, so I’m assuming they’ll pick her up in the morning like originally planned.”
“You got it.”
“Thanks.” The woman smiles at Jess. “Have fun, Annabelle!” The man closes the door. He brings Jess over to a playpen that has been set up in front of the TV.
“I’ll get you some food ready,” he says, setting her in the playpen, next to two girls, one slightly younger than Jess and the other slightly older. “Abby, Kelly, be nice to Annabelle.” The man walks away, then returns a few minutes later with food for Jess.
Jess devours the chicken nuggets and juice box she is given. The man chuckles.
“You were hungry, huh?” he asks her. Jess nods. He takes the plate and empty juice box from her. Unsure of how to get out of this, Jess sits in the playpen, wondering what’s in store for her next.
