5… 4… 3… 2… 1… Jen shut her eyes, fearing the worst. She waited, and waited, and nothing happened. “Nothing happened… Nothing happened.” Jen was jumping in joy and hugged her friends again.
“I’m free!” she yelled in happiness. “I’m not forced to transform anyone.” Suddenly she became much more subdued. “But… that means I also didn't have to transform the others… or you two.” Tears were welling up in her eyes again. “I’m so sorry.”
“It's not your fault, Jenny, you have been quite literally cursed, everything could have happened. The pill could have exploded for all we know,” Laura said. The other two were glad that she didn't mention that before.
“And it’s not like anyone was actually harmed by the transformations, Jenny. Reality always altered in the best possible way to accommodate the changes. So far nobody who has changed ever complained about their new lives,” Audrey added.
Usually Jen despised being called ‘Jenny’, but out of their mouths it somehow sounded endearing and comforting. “You're only saying that to console me,” she replied though.
“No, that's wrong,” Audrey exclaimed. “Just look at us two. Laura got the ability to clone herself to help her family on the farm. It might sound weird, but the constant feelings I get from the dicks and tongues in my attractive vagina greatly reduced my anxiety. These transformations somehow tend to be beneficial to you, the changed or person or even the public. Maybe Laura's experiment created the mind link between us, because you needed some friends to share your troubles with?”
After that Jen actually managed to give a small smile. “If you put it that way, it really doesn't sound so bad. To be honest, I actually started to enjoy transforming others. But now I can stop these for good.”
“Wait, Jenny, you can’t just stop doing this. Think about what you can do with these pills,” Laura interjected.
“Are you for real? You want to continue transforming people?”
Laura grabbed both of Jen’s hands and looked her straight in the eyes. “Of course. I’m a scientist at heart and I won't be able to rest easy until I know how far these little things can go. Even before I was aware of the reality changes, I was investigating my ability and you can't stop me now. Just imagine, Jenny, we could transform everyone in this school, maybe even town, once, no twice. Everything is possible and I want to see everything.”
“You can’t be serious. Audrey, tell her that’s crazy!”
Audrey avoided eye contact. “Actually, I agree with her, Jenny.”
Jen stood there, slack-jawed. “What?”
Audrey shuffled her feet and started blushing a bit. “I already listed all these reasons why your transformations might be beneficial for others. Not to mention… you know, one of the reasons why I love video games so much is that they offer all these unique and fantastical worlds, compared to our boring one.” She balled up her fists and started approaching Jen. “And now you’ve become the chosen one, who can change this world into something better. You have to make use of that gift.” Jen couldn't remember the last time she saw Audrey this excited.
Jen was conflicted. The main reason she wanted to stop transformations was her conscience telling her it could endanger others. But now it was not only outvoted two-to-one, three-to-one if you count the side of Jen that had already started to love transforming others, not to mention the two also gave some very convincing arguments.
Maybe Audrey was right and she might enjoy this even more if she can share it with her closest friends. “Okay, girls, you got me. Who do we want to transform next?”
