"Well, well, what have we here?" A gruff voice boomed from up above James "how did you find your way in here eh? You don't look like a paying guest to me!"
The mystery man chuckled to himself as James instinctively began to hop away as quickly as his little legs would let him. It was to no avail, however, as he was soom scooped up by a pair of hairy, muscular hands and raised into the air until he was facing a menacing looking middle aged man. James tried desperately to squirm his way out of the vice like grip he was being held in but it was clear he was going nowhere.
"Slippery little thing aren't you?" the man smiled cruelly at his prey "Well I'm sorry, but I'm not one to let a perfectly good dinner hop away from me"
James was starting to panic now. Dinner? He didn't know much about toads but were they even edible? Wasn't he supposed to be poisonous or something? Well, if he was it didn't seem to be any concern to his captor.
"Here, lets find you somewhere you can't jump your way out of" the chef seemed to taunt James as he carried him through to the kitchen before forcing the helpless amphibian into a small glass container and sealing him securely inside. There were some breathing holes crudely pierced into the lid of his temporary prison but not much room for James to move and no chance of escape.
His human predator grinned gleefully at James through the glass that seperated them.
"Hehe. Next time you go jumping anywhere it will be straight into my cooking pot" the chef informed the toad merrily "but it might take a few days to fatten you up properly first. I like 'em nice and plump"
And with that the conversation ended as James was carried out of the inn and away from the Princess who had been planning to save him. He wished he had just stayed in the pond.
