Ronald Donovan was alone in his cell, although he noticed that there was another bed... So a roommate was something he could look forward to. They figured out how to test his powers without any room for retaliation... and now who knows what was going to happen to him? It had been maybe a day or two... and while the living conditions were decent and the food was nutritious. Not knowing what was happening with Melissa was what was really getting to Ronald. There were other villains within close proximity, but with thick walls in the way there'd be no way for Ronald or the other Villains to know who was in the other cells.
The intercom in his cell activated and out came a female voice "I am Oracle. I've drafted a proposal that can help grant you your freedom, and future with Melissa."
Oracle... that was that lady who can see anywhere right? "testing..." Ronald said wondering if the ability nullifying thing that was in this room would counter her sight.
"I can hear you Mr. Donovan."
"Tell me your proposal."
"First has to do with what we think would be best for Melissa's well being. She has human intelligence, but has limited understanding and comprehension of it. We would like you to bring down her physical age to somewhere around 10 to 12 years old."
"Fair enough..."
"Second your powers are dangerous, but also very useful when it comes to tending to the wounded. We've heard you dislike fighting however how would you like being the medic of Magical Girl Squad 626?"
"...and what would that entail?"
"As I am their Squad Mother I direct them, but considering my power and role in the Protectors I can't go out with them very much. You'd go out with them and patch up any injured. If you desire to help in any conflicts outside of a medical purpose you will have to clear it with me first." Ronald's eye twitched. He had seen the news and that squad semi-regularly popped up... That said great power great responsibility and since they usually had a lot of conflict... He'd probably get the best use of his powers healing civilians and the magical girls.
"Any other conditions?"
"Less of a condition and more of an opportunity. After finding out what you did to your dog we had to give her a physical examination. We've found that she essentially has superhuman hearing and smelling... Perhaps a side effect of her originally being a dog. While not spectacular enough to considering going into crime fighting the magical girl squads were created for girls with supernatural feats to hone their skills and socialize. My squad is used to some eccentric personalities and would be forgiving to any social paux pas Melissa may have."
"You make a decent argument but what happens when they decide to go against your orders again to punch some alien dragon?!?"
"It is merely an invitation. Regardless if you accept our proposition you are free to decline, and we will compensate you. You'll get a decent salary we can discuss. While we can't let you live alone we will provide you with residence here at our tower in an actual room. This includes access to things such as our gym area for those without physical enhancements, our kitchen and cooks, and our recreation room."
Ronald thought for a little while and then replied...
