"Phew!" The pink fairy sighed once they had reached safety. "That was close!"
Turning to Isaac, she suddenly stopped at the sight of Isaac's sword, which had also shrunk to fairy size, now pointed straight at her throat.
"Change me back at once," Isaac demanded.
In response, Pink (as Isaac thought of her) simply remarked, "Oh my. I forgot you still had that with you." Marigold looked like she would interfere, but she waved her off. "Is this any way to thank your rescuers?"
"You do have my thanks, fairy," Isaac answered, keeping her blade steady. Briefly, she noticed that the weapon had once more altered, becoming even more slender in design with a leafy vine motif in the hilt. "That is why I haven't killed you where you stand, er, float, whatever. Now, you just have to transform me back into my old self, and we'll be even."
To her surprise, the fairy laughed. "Actually, I think you would be owing us. What makes you think we caused your first transformation?"
"I was changed by your magic, wasn't I?"
Pink rolled her eyes. "You entered an enchanted forest in the springtime and were exposed to magic infused pollen. My sister and I witnessed your change, but we didn't cause it. That was the forest itself."
Isaac opened her mouth to retort but paused. To be honest, she had no solid proof that the fairy was lying. And what if she was? It would certainly make no difference in the situation. "Fine, I'll believe you for now," she forced herself to say. "And I'm even willing to owe the Seelie if you will change me back. My mission needs to be completed, no matter what."
"Ugh, even as a fairy you're so boring. It's all about mission this and mission that," Pink grumbled. "It's not going to do any good anyway. I can maybe return your manly appearance, but the forest's claim on you still stands. Sooner or later, it will have you."
"I don't care as long as Calmach's influence is erased from this world. So, will you change me or not?"
"Very well. I'll do what I can."
