The photo didn't show the three girls. In fact, it only seemed to show one person! What Katie saw was a picture of a VERY pregnant black woman, probably around 40 years old. She was beyond confused. But, she wasn't nearly as confused as she was about to be, when her head glanced up to see that, in fact, the girls had been replaced by this woman!
She was African American, probably 40 like she thought before. She had curly dark hair with a little bit of grey showing, and a lot of makeup likely to compensate. She had large breasts held tightly in her maternity dress, and were likely larger than normal with her due date clearly drawing near.
Although still held within her clothing, her stomach was protruding, making her seem like she was ready to pop. She grabbed her stomach, winced slightly and then looked up at Katie.
"Thank you for your help darling." She thanked Katie.
"Um, for what?" She asked, genuinely confused beyond reason.
"Oh thank you dear." The woman winked. "I appreciate you not telling anyone, but morning sickness does tend to happen sometimes."
"What?!" Katie thought. "I've never even met this lady before... have I? Am I going crazy?" She screamed internally.
Katie gave the woman a fake smile of reassurance, but secretly studied her face, wondering if she had ever seen this woman before. Then, it hit her like a brick. It was Veronica. Although she was MUCH older, it looked exactly like her, and a bit like her mother the few times Katie spotted the woman. "No, no it couldn't be..." Katie thought.
"Um, Mrs. Veronica?" Katie asked, fumbling on what her former bully's last name was.
"Ha! Honey, I know it's hard to remember my new last name since I got married, but calling me by my first name is just ridiculous." Veronica chuckled. "It's Mrs. Lake now sweetie." She giggled.
"Right, s-sorry, Mrs. Lake." Katie replied, trying not to freak after confirming it was Veronica. "So, um... I, uh, have been wondering, have you been thinking about... a name?" She asked.
"Names, actually." Veronica smiled. "Don't tell anyone, but it's twin boys!" She excitedly whispered. "I was thinking Henry and Alex, but Mr. Lake will also get his own say." She laughed.
Katie's jaw dropped. Somehow, someway, Veronica had transformed, and Hailey and Alexis along with her, and for some reason she noticed nothing amiss. Katie finally shook herself free of the awe, and managed to respond.
"Wh-what wonderful names... Mrs. Lake." She smiled with wide eyes.
Before Veronica could respond, the door to the bathroom suddenly opened. In walked Katie's Math teacher, Ms. Georgia Jenson. She brushed her blond curls aside and then looked towards Katie and Veronica. Her blank expression turned positive, and she smiled at the sight of them.
"There you are V, how are you feeling hun?" She asked in her southern accent.
"Oh I'm much better thanks to Miss Lopez here." Veronica replied.
Ms. Jenson smiled at Katie.
"Oh you're such a sweet kid hun!" She laughed, grabbing onto Veronica's hand. "Let's get you to the teacher's lounge to rest before your next class ok honey?" She asked.
"Thank you Georgia. And thank you again Miss Lopez." Veronica called out before she left the bathroom, leaving Katie alone inside.
She stood still for a minute, before glancing down slowly at the photo of "Mrs. Lake" and next to it the camera she had discovered.
"Holy shit." Katie whispered, realizing the ability this camera possessed. Veronica, Hailey, and Alexis had all transformed, and nobody but Katie remembered the truth.
