Katie Lopez walked into the bathroom in tears. She walked into school today with the same outfit she had worn yesterday. She often had to repeat outfits in a week due to her limited wardrobe, but today she had to wear the exact same one again. Her mother Maria had gambled away their laundry money so now she needed to wait a day.
Unfortunately, high school girls were incredibly mean. Hailey and her clique of bitches noticed Katie's outfit right away and embarrassed her in front of everyone. She left class in tears before retreating into the closest girls room. Katie looked in the mirror and saw the sad, lost, half-Mexican girl who always got the short end of the stick. Dad left early, Mom was a piece of shit, and everybody at school didn't give two shits.
"I'll show them all." She thought as she cleaned up her minimal makeup. "I'll buy the best damned clothes they've ever seen."
Just then, she caught something odd in the mirror. She turned to see a strange, old looking camera sitting on the bathroom floor. Suddenly overtaken by curiosity, she picked it up to examine it better.
"I think I've seen this before in some old video or something... this is what cameras used to look like right?" She thought aloud.
She began to flick through a couple buttons on the side...
"You left it in the bathroom?" Emily quietly yelled at Paula, as to not alert "Rachael" or Devon. "How could you just leave something that important behind?"
"It's not wike I wanted to." She replied, annoyed with her kindergarten speech. "The pwincipal walked in, what was I... uh... um." She continued, suddenly straining to remember.
"What's the matter... with..." Emily replied, before also getting a little confused. What had she been yelling about again? Something about... a camera? No that didn't seem right... "Oh, right!" Emily suddenly remembered. "Sis, why'd you come here anyway?"
"I wanted to see you!" Paula replied in tears. "I wuv you!"
"Ohh, honey it's okay." Rachael leaned back upon hearing this. "Listen, Daddy and I have to take you home now, but how about we get you some ice cream ok?"
"Yay!" She yelled before running off.
Emily just rolled her eyes and walked back to class, trying to remember if she had forgotten something.
"You spoil her way too much." Devon chuckled.
"I know... but she's just so adorable! But seriously, we're gonna have to invest in better locks." Rachael chuckled as she tried to keep the struggling puppy in her arms.
Katie had flicked a bunch of switches but nothing seemed to happen. She had hoped some screen would turn on somewhere but no such luck. Unbeknownst to her, she had accidentally made herself the only one aware of any future changes the camera would make. Just as she was about to walk out, she hear snickering behind her.
"Oh look, it's the illegal immigrant." Hailey snickered.
"I'm not a- *sigh* whatever Hailey." she groaned, attempting to move past her. Before she could leave, unfortunately, two of her goonies showed up and pushed her back inside. Hailey brushed her blonde hair cockily to the side as her tall black and short redheaded friend showed up on either side.
"Whatcha got there?" She asked snidely. "Is that the only model phone you could afford?"
Katie just stared at her, clutching the camera tightly.
"I bet she was gonna sell it!" The redhead Alexis chimed in.
"Probably." Veronica laughed.
"Oh definitely" Haley agreed. "We can't have you selling... whatever that dohickie is. Hand it over."
"No!" Katie screamed, accidentally taking a picture of the three girls in front of her. "Oh God." She thought, looking down at the ground. "I'm so dead. Any second now they're gonna come at me and eat the shit outta me." Despite this thought, no attack ever came.
Just as she was about to see why they hadn't come at her, Katie noticed a picture fall out of the camera and onto the floor. It caught Katie's eye, because it didn't show the three bitchy girls how they were.... was it even them at all? Katie had inadvertently changed reality, and only she knew.... the question is, what did Hailey, Veronica, and Alexis turn into?
