Ah good, our first potential disaster of the day

added by RainingJustice 3 years ago O Mythological

With the image of the two girls who'd transformed each other fresh on her mind, Rhonda's night was not the easiest thing. She only went to sleep after a long period of giving Abigail shifty looks from across the room, and even when she did finally drift off, her dreams were... unpleasant. Most of them felt like some odd mix between a flashback and a fear over the future - all the awful transformations she'd been subjected to flashing through her mind, with new horrors mixed in as her brain ran through all the cruel potential offered by a school full of petty teenage girls.

The groggy period of awakening the next day was short, as she had suddenly rocketed up, fearfully inspecting every inch of herself for unwanted alterations. To Rhonda's tremendous relief, she had woken up with the same body she'd gone to sleep with. Lichi seemed to have had the same luck, and even Abigail, the little shit, had come out the other end of the night intact. Alright. Good. One night down, nine months to go. God help her.

She tried to keep a positive outlook as she hurried through her morning shower and breakfast, having gotten up a little late. Determied not to be the girl who showed up late for their first class, she fast-tracked through all the morning prepartion - her hair was barely styled into something acceptable before she hurried out the door, rushing to get to her first class. Granted, there'd be a new challenge when she got there... but one thing at a time.

Seats were already packed by the time she got there, but a few were still open, confirming that she wasn't quite last to arrive. Rhonda's eyes scanned over the room, quickly settling on her best friend, currently sitting at one desk and keeping her feet propped up in the one next to her. With a smile she hurried over, patting Sofia on the shoulder so that the German girl would pull her feet away and let her sit down. Not without giving her a bit of shit, of course. "For a minute there I thought you had wised up and left the school."

"And miss your cute-ass roommate? Not a chance." She gave Sofia's feet a little shove to get them off the chair, quickly settling in afterwards, spreading her notebook and some thick tome on witchcraft out on the surface in front of her. Her hand craned, glancing around at who else was here; nobody she recognized besides Sofia and Lichi, who excitedly waved at Rhonda from across the room. She returned the gesture, albeit not quite as theatrically as her newfound younger friend.

Sofia gave them both a couple glances before posing the obvious question. "Did the skank start anything?" Rhonda merely responded with a shake of her head. "Good. If she does, just tell me, so I can watch you rearrange her face."

They shared a quiet laugh at the thought before everyone in the room was quieted down by a new arrival. The woman who stepped inside the classroom was not a teenager like the rest of them - she was an adult, one who carried herself with a great deal of grace and confidence. Six and a half feet tall with curves that could take anyone's breath away, she proceeded right to the desk at the front of the classroom with boots clacking against the tiled floor.

A black dress with a considerably low neckline and a hem halfway between her buttocks and knees showed quite a bit of skin - olive green skin, to be specific, though it matched the tusks coming from her lower jaw, and the warrioresque quality of her dark hair, shaved on the sides and back yet flowing long from the top of her head. From a satchel slung over one shoulder she produced a few ancient books, icy blue eyes trailing over the assembled ladies before her. For just a moment, they landed on Rhonda, and the latina found herself squirming.

"Well, look at that," the woman spoke up, her voice deep and authoritative. "You've all managed to make it through nearly 24 hours without having your body altered. Congratualtions, girls. It won't last." She followed up the assurance with a low, guttural laugh as a piece of chalk levitated behind her, writing her name on the board followed by the class title: Professor Gwendolyne Lancaster, Introduction to Applied Warding. "Now, roll call..." She glanced over at a paper floating up from the table, humming for a moment. "All present and accounted for. Excellent."

The orcish witch launched into the standard explanations, briefly outlining what they were supposed to cover in this class. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given the nature of this school, every student was required to attend such a class before any other, where they would be studying wards, defensive spells to help protect themselves. It was a subject that Sofia had already gotten quite good at over the years, but with how utterly unpredictable a bunch of magic-slinging teenagers could be, it didn't hurt to get a refresher.

Most of it, even the basic first-class stuff, was flying over Rhonda's head. The brief mentions of historical practitioners and famous wards, she could kind of grasp, but the incantations and somatic components that she glossed over might as well have been greek to her. She tried her best to pay attention, truly, but some of this stuff wasn't going to make a lick of sense to a girl who lacked so much as a single bone in her body.

Halfway through the class, she was distracted from her notepad's random collection of question marks and scribbled nonsense phrases by the green-skinned professor clearing her throat and peering over the class once more. "Now then - I'm sure you all know a basic shield spell, if you've managed to not die to some magical nonsense or another until now." She chuckled. "I'd like to see a demonstration. How about..." Her eyes darted around the room, as Rhonda's face grew pale. Please don't call me please don't call me please don't call me
