Jeff returned to his room to notice everything had changed slightly. The remnants of his childhood toys and posters had disappeared save for a memento or two from long ago family vacations. Back from before he and his Dad started dating... "Wait what?" He and his dad's relationship remained in this new reality, still starting from back when he was 16. Now, Jeff had access to all the memories, and a brief consideration of his and Matt's relationship told him he was no longer a virgin, and we aren't talking third base. "What the fuck..."
Jeff went to the computer, his profile was still up. He briefly reviewed his profile surprised to see he wasn't classified as gay or bi but still straight, though his memories confirmed many, many actions to the contrary. Jeff saw the package applied to him was called Rough and Tumble. It had two sections one for physical changes one for mental. Under physical it laid out height, weight, muscle mass, hirsuteness, testosterone production, penis length/girth, libido, testicle mass. Under mental it listed pleasure in creating/fixing things physically, lowered inhibitions, recreational drug usage (especially alcohol), assertiveness and desire to control situations, affinity towards classically masculine pastimes/recreation, and a slew of other traits including cursing. There was a slider for percent of modification and a bar that went from -100 to +100 and he was at +5.
There was a summary of obvious changes at +5, it just said, "Frequency of expletives (cursing when frustrated)"
"Makes sense" Jeff mumbled, he went back to his profile glancing at his height weight and age, sure enough he was 22, 5'10 and 160 lbs with 5% body fat. "This isn't the most important thing to focus on right now Jeff..." He chided himself.
Flipping over to Matt's profile he quickly scrolled down to the relationship section and saw the Relationship Status: Dating, open incestuous relationship (Jeff Moore) still there. "Ugh." Jeff cringed as memories of them kissing, caressing, and fucking both disgusted and aroused him.
Quickly he clicked on the Dating option changing it to Married and from the drop down, he selected his mother's name. "There." Jeff smiled. This will keep Jennifer safe, get me out of incest, and make dad, dad again.
Jeff breathed a sigh of relief as he scrolled to the bottom of the page; mousing toward the Apply button and when he was almost there the emitter flashed.
Jeff blinked, his eyes adjusting to the screen in front of him. Absentmindedly he took a swig of his beer and watched with interest the makeover of the estate on the TV show he was watching. In the back of his mind he was analyzing how easy it would be for him to fix up this house and add a retention wall, maybe a water feature... he took another swig as a commercial came on... He was doing something else wasn't he? Something important...
The computer... Jeff knew he had at least 5 more minutes till they showed the big reveal, so he got up with a small grunt and threw out his beer can before heading up to his room. Maybe seeing the computer would jog his memory. As he got to the PC and saw the Chronivac he remembered he was fixing his Mom and Dad's relationship. Instead of seeing his dad's profile still up he saw his own, Age: 25, Height: 5'11 Weight: 195 Body Fat Percentage: 11.5 Rough and Tumble Package Application: +15% Relationship Status: Dating, open incestuous relationship (Matthew Moore). "Wait, that shouldn't be." The fog was lifting and the lapse in time becoming more obvious.
He'd lost half an hour as it was now 8:30 and fixing his mom and dad's relationship should have fixed his... He flipped his relationship status to none and scrolled down to the Apply Button, the emitter flashed.
Jeff was watching a recorded game on 2x speed, it wasn't as exciting as watching it live at the sports bar but he could still enjoy some of the bigger plays and the beer is cheaper. Growing a little bored as nothing exciting had happened in the last few minutes he felt the need to move and recognized the growing need in his chest. Hitting pause on the TV he grabbed his beer as he went outside and lit up his cigarette turning to his phone for instant entertainment. There was a pervasive thought in the back of his head that something was off. A few moments later and he was ready to go in, heading to his room to try to quell the insistent voice.
As the cloud dulling his senses lifted he realized something is happening and he needs to be very careful. Jeff is coming to his senses more and more as he reads, the multiple realities becoming clearer in his mind, Now, Jeff and Matt had been together for 12 years.
A warning popped up, "Expanding Paradox: Options selected are causing issues with reality, please review and rectify." Jeff clicked Okay
Jeff couldn't try to make any changes via the Chronivac, he was locked out and would undergo more changes should he try.
Jeff realized he has access to the assist line! Going back to the help menu he called the non emergency number and after waiting on hold for several minutes reached a person. After explaining their plight they asked the agent what can be done.
"So you're saying your father set you up effectively to not be able to use the device?" The agent clarified.
"Right, but they don't understand..."
"I'm sorry but in the case of minors, so long as nobody's being hurt, TransDem's policy is to support the parents."
"I'm twenty fucking eight years old!" Jeff growled.
"Right, but when the setting was applied by your parent, you were 16, so in order to remove the setting we would need a parent or guardian to authorize the..."
Jeff hung up the phone in rage and disbelief.
