Leah sleeps through the rest of the drive, as well as disembarking the bus. Still sleeping, she’s carried off to her cabin. At the camp, the older children were grouped based upon potty training ability, and younger children based upon age. As Leah had claimed to be an older child on the form, her accident on the bus was used to determine which cabin she went to.
“Wh-where…” Leah mumbles sleepily, waking up as they approach the cabin. The counselor carrying her chuckles.
“Hi, Sleeping Beauty.”
“No, me Leah.”
“Oh, I know.” The counselor carries Leah into the cabin. The beds are a mixture of cribs and toddler beds, and there’s a line of toddler training potties against the back wall. With this information, Leah determines that she’s been placed in the middling cabin for older children. She’s not considered the best at potty training, but she’s at least thought to have started potty training. Unlike the children in the “little poopers” cabin, who don’t even have training potties available.
“All right, time to assign beds,” says another counselor. Leah blearily remembers that each cabin has at least three counselors, due to the campers’ young ages. “Leah, right?” Leah nods. “You’re the smallest one here, so you’re going to go in a crib. What’s your favorite color?”
“Yellow.”
“Colin, take her to the yellow crib and get her dressed.” The counselor continues to assign beds as the counselor carrying Leah, Colin, brings her to her crib.
“Since it’s the first day, how about dressing up a bit?” Colin suggests, setting Leah down in the crib. He rummages through Leah’s bag and pulls out a frilly, sparkly dress. “Ooh, this one is cute! Aw, and it has a matching diaper cover! Your mommy thought of everything.”
Colin dresses Leah in the dress and diaper cover, as well as some tights and ballet flats to complete the ensemble. By the time he’s done dressing her, all the beds have been assigned.
“What next, Trixie?” Colin asks the counselor who assigned beds.
