Nothing happens. Jacob opens her eyes and sighs sadly. It was worth a shot. But if she wants to properly disguise herself as a boy, she needs to do something about her hair. After a little more digging, she locates a baseball cap. She bundles her hair on top of her head and puts the hat on. It’s a temporary fix until she locates some scissors.
The first place Jacob can think of that would have scissors is the daycare. Luckily, that’s one of the potential locations Seth might have gone to. Jacob exits the changing room and heads for the daycare. Her luck continues, as the daycare is empty, with a sign indicating that the children were taken to the pool. She enters the daycare and digs through the drawers of the front desk.
Upon finding scissors, Jacob grabs them and heads for the nearest mirror. She takes off her cap. Some part of her is sad to chop off her glorious mane, but she stifles that sadness. With a few snips, her hair is short and boyish. Voices and footsteps approach. Hurriedly, Jacob dumps her hair clippings in the diaper pail, then panics. A toddler caught unattended in a daycare with scissors wouldn’t be a good look. She has to get rid of the scissors, hide, or both.
