At roughly one millimeter tall, there wasn’t much Mike could do to even relate to what was going on around him: what would seem like a mere step or walk at normal size felt to him like the titanic earthquake of the ground beneath him rising, falling, and, on this awful occasion, slamming into something. He had thought he was safe crouched under a stitch in this giant woman's shoe, but instead he found himself being torn away from his refuge. There was one moment where he realized he could hold on if he used both hands and let go of the gun, but he also knew that gun was the only thing that was going to get him back to a normal person. He clutched tightly to the gun, hoped for the best, and let the chips fall.
Later, Mike would have a hard time piecing together exactly what happened. For now, though, he had the feeling of sliding across the terrain of this giantess's high heel, so fast that he didn’t believe it possible. He was flung off into thin air within seconds, and he knew he was in for trouble, so he held on even tighter to the gun and just tried to land on his back.
At some point he woke up. He wasn’t sure how much time has elapsed since he was last conscious, but he looked around and all he saw was confusion. He looked each way and upwards, mostly upwards, and initially he was confused that everything around him seemed taller than the highest skyscaper, one cathedral after another in some kind of awful sterile city.
Mike had a vague sense of managing to hold onto the gun that could transform him back, so he looked around to see if it was anywhere near him. Amazingly enough, it was, and he picked up the gun with a feeling of relief greater than any he had ever felt before. With that reassurance, he examined his surroundings once again, and he realized he was in the entryway to the bar. He was just past the staircase at the entrance, and ahead of him was the giant bar itself, with a few monolithic human beings ordering drinks. Mike was pretty sure one of the women there was the one he held onto when he tried to jump the train. What an astonishing sight.
For now, though, he was mostly just happy to be alive. But while he had this gun, he really should take advantage of it. Mike’s first question was whether he wanted to proceed being this unbelievably tiny.
