“My haircut,” Tina says as they pull into the parking lot of Tina’s favorite salon. She primps her hair. “I have to get a trim.”
“Ugh. Can I stay in the car?”
“No. It’s too hot.” Tina removes Leah from the car seat and buckles her into the stroller. She then pushes the stroller into the salon. “Rose?”
“Tina!” Tina’s favorite stylist, Rose, beams. “I’m ready for you now. Come on back.”
“I had to bring my niece, Hailey,” Tina says.
“Well, does she want a haircut, too?” Rose asks. Tina gasps.
“Oh, that would be wonderful! She’s a bit ragged right now. How much?”
“Well, we’ve actually got a trainee today, so she’ll do the haircut for free.”
Before Leah knows what’s happening, she’s in the special salon chair for babies. The trainee stylist thinks she’s adorable and coos over her nonstop during the haircut.
“Your niece is so cute, I’m tempted to steal her myself,” the trainee says to Tina. Tina chuckles.
“Her mom wouldn’t be happy if I didn’t bring her back home.”
“Fair enough,” the trainee says. “And…done! Go ahead and take a look, Hailey!” Leah looks at her reflection nervously. All she can do is hope that the trainee stylist somehow screwed up and gave her a mature hairstyle instead of an immature one.
