Well, it won’t be too weird to be dressed like a boy, even though she’s a girl. It would be weirder to have a boy name and be registered as a boy, even though she’s a girl. With a soft sigh, Jacob writes down that she’s a girl. As for her fake name, however, she’s stumped. She looks around. Her eyes land on a doll of Ariel from The Little Mermaid.
She has red hair now. Ariel is as good a name as any. Jacob puts that down as her name. Then, she hears voices in the hall. She quickly sneaks out of the daycare and hides, then joins the group of children returning to the daycare. When they walk inside, a daycare worker takes the attendance sheet and reads off the names.
“Ariel?” the daycare worker calls.
“Here!”
“Good, we haven’t lost anyone. Go ahead and play, kiddies. Your mommies and daddies will be coming to pick you up in half an hour.”
The newly christened Ariel follows her peers into the main play area. Seth should be here in half an hour, so she needs to find some way to pass her time until then. She looks around, trying to decide just how to pass that time.
