Jacob puts the dress back in the box. She worked hard to find these boy clothes, she’s not getting rid of them just because she saw a pretty dress.
“Snap out of it,” Jacob mutters to herself, grimacing at thinking of the dress as “pretty” and wanting to put it on.
The daycare is currently empty. A note on the desk says that the children were taken to an activity elsewhere in the gym. They should be back in five minutes. Seth probably expects Jacob to be with the children, so if he sees the lights off when walking by, he won’t check to see if Jacob is inside. Jacob will just have to wait until everyone gets back.
She decides to wander around the deserted daycare for a little bit. The toys look very fun, but she ignores them for now. Jacob goes back to the front desk. She clambers onto the desk’s chair, searching for the attendance sheet. It someone realizes she isn’t on the sheet, it might raise alarms. Luckily, the attendance sheet is right on top.
Jacob grabs a pen, ready to properly sign up, but pauses. The sheet doesn’t just have a name, it also requires her age and gender. After a moment, she puts down “2” for her age. But she’s still stuck on what name and gender to pose as. She’s dressed like a boy, but if she needs a diaper change, they would find out she’s a girl. But if she puts down that she’s a girl, it might draw attention to have a boy name like “Jacob”.
