For the next two hours Taylor almost forgot her power, as she enjoyed snuggling with her sweetheart in the back row of the movie. She realized that she loved Maggie and didn't want to change her in any way. But there was a core of pain inside Maggie, pain caused by her repressive and intolerant family. (It hadn't gotten worse since Taylor wished Maggie was a lesbian, because Maggie had been gay all along.)
As they were enjoying a coffee together after the movie, Taylor saw the expression of pain on her girlfriend's face as she contemplated going back home. "Parents again?" she asked.
"Yeah" said Maggie "I don't want to talk about it."
They finished. "I'd love for you to walk me home" said Maggie "But I can't take the risk of them seeing us together. Ever since they found out about Darla and how your whole family is being so great about supporting her they've been saying you're a bad influence."
Taylor looked as Maggie moved out of sight. She used her power to see what the reason was Maggie's parents were so screwed up.
