Leading on your sister is morally okayish

added by RainingJustice 2 years ago O

An odd and fairly unfamiliar feeling started to creep up Rhonda's spine as she mulled over her maybe-half-twin's request. Her mind focused in, trying to determine if she had ever felt this sensation before; it was a struggle, but after a few seconds, she did recall one or two times this feeling had graced her. Back when she was twelve, and had ended up accidentially swapping bodies with Sofia for a day, and had acess to all her magic - and again last year, when she'd finally ended up pointing the crazy-ass magic gun at the psycho witch bounty hunter instead of the other way around. Yeah, yeah, she was starting to recognize what this feeling was, alright.

Power, at least in some tiny way.

Alright, maybe it wasn't really that much in the way of power, but still - this was a rare occasion where she was the one who had somebody else over a barrel. It didn't happen often, being a mortal in a magical world, and when it does, she had learned to relish it. At a school like this especially, where simply being separated from Sofia or Lichi left her virtually defenesless against a horde of teenage girls (and not in the fun kind of way (usually (some of the time (occasionally (god why couldn't she have ended up in a school full of girls crushing on her sooner)))), there was something delightful about knowing that somebody else needed something from her.

She wanted to drag that out, for as long as she could. If that came at Margo's expense, well, she'd just have to deal with that. Somehow she suspected that her potential sibling would understand. "Maybe... I need to think about it, before I go attracting even more attention."

Margo raised an eyebrow. "You're picking an odd time to stop trying to draw attention, you know." She gestured to one of the latina's wings. "I would've stopped before choosing to be a dragon-girl."

"Well, I guess not attention, so much as... a different kind of attention." Rhonda shrugged slightly, the motion kicking up a bit of wind from her wings flapping slightly in step. "Getting known as the girl who got turned half-draconic, that's one thing. Going into politics is a whole different thing, and a lot more likely to get way nastier stuff hurled at me."

The albino tapped a finger against her chin. "Hmmm... I suppose so. Why don't you come see me at lunch tomorrow, then, and let me know what your answer is? I'm sorry to rush, but I need to get my campaign started quite early if I hope to have a chance at winning."

"Fine. Tomorrow, at lunch, you'll get a yes or no."

"Ohhhh, I think I'll be getting a yes for sure. But if you need the time-" She stopped as a knock came on the door behind her, followed by said door being immediately opened, before either girl could respond. It was, thankfully, a friendly face - Sofia marched right inside, politely dropping an 'excuse me' as she pushed past Margo, a hand being placed on her shoulder very briefly. Rhonda was fairly certain, based on the expression crossing the albino's face, that she intended never to wash that shoulder again.

By contrast, Sofia's own face carried a look far more strewn with worry. "Hey, uh... slight problem. Teeny-tiny problem, not even worth mentioning really, but, y'know, figured I should give you a heads up."

Uh-oh. "What's the new disaster?" She asked, mind already racing with possibilities.

"Apparently, the lady who was going to teach our conjuration class got called away last minute. So, they got a substitute..." She grimaced. "The Countess."

There was an immediate exclamation from both Margo and Rhonda, at the same time. "The Countess?!" They both blinked, looking to each other, followed by Rhonda looking to Sofia to spot a bewildered expression. She merely shrugged in a 'long story' sort of manner, this being enough to satisfy the german girl for the moment.

"Yeah. The Countess." She let out a sigh, reaching up to rub her face. "Uh... look, maybe she's forgotten. It's been a couple years, after all, surely she can't still be holding a grudge."

Margo spoke up. "Well... you two ruined the six centuries she spent planning a vampire apocalypse... so...."

"How the hell do you-?!" She paused. "No, no, not even worried about that right now." She reached down to pick up her wand, waving it around near Rhonda's neck. "I'm gonna put up a ward against undead around your neck. Hopefully it'll at least slow her down if she tries anything... hopefully." She didn't exactly sound confident. "Look, we have got to be on good behavior for this class, okay? No attracting attention, no making a fuss, no pissing her off."

"Yeah, yeah, I got it," Rhonda groaned in response. "Your mom can still do the cure thing, right?"

"If she can she sure as hell isn't hiking up here to do it." Translation: unless she also wanted to be a vampire on top of being a dragon, she needed to keep her head down. The latina sighed and nodded, offering no resistance as Sofia grabbed her hand and started dragging her off to class. With the other hand she gave Margo a brief wave goodbye, though the albino seemed too focused on Sofia to offer a wave in return. Well, at least this was one thing she could hang over her sister's head if needed - assuming they came out of this next class with their lives intact.

She tried to psyche herself up as they stepped through the door and into the classroom. It had been a solid three years now - surely she couldn't still be that angry, could she?
