Leah is visibly nervous and fussy, despite her disguise, so Tina gives her a juice box. It only helps as long as it takes for her to guzzle down the juice, then Leah begins to fidget again. So, Tina gives her a pacifier to suck on.
“It will help your disguise,” Tina whispers. She keeps to herself the other reason she gave her stepdaughter a pacifier: it might calm her down. Leah sucks on the pacifier. Sure enough, she begins to calm. She calms down so much that she actually falls asleep.
Tina is pushing the sleeping Leah down another aisle when she hears a hissing sound. She checks Leah’s diaper. Apparently, the juice went right through her. The diaper isn’t wet enough to merit a change, though, so Tina continues shopping.
They’ve finished getting items and are headed for checkout when Tina hears another soft hiss. She checks Leah’s diaper again. It’s yellow and soaked. Leah needs a change.
Tina pushes the cart towards the back of the store, heading for the bathroom to change her stepdaughter’s wet diaper.
