One of the nice things about not using her powers to be omniscient, Taylor thought, was that she could still be surprised by things. And she was actually surprised, and not a little amused, by what Maggie had told her. "It's OK" said Maggie "You can laugh. It is kind of funny. When I think how uptight Dad and Mom were, particularly about anything sexual. . ."
Taylor laughed. "So are they pregnant? Are you going to have any cute little fuzzy half-brothers and half-sisters?"
"I think so--I mean, they're sleeping and eating even more than usual." Maggie rolled her eyes. "They're even lazier as cats than they were as people--I mean Dad at least worked hard ripping people off."
"Doing less harm, though."
"That's Michael's theory--he thinks that Mom and Dad are being given a chance to learn how to be good parents by raising kittens."
"Makes as much sense as anything else." Taylor was starting to worry a little about the secret she was keeping from Maggie--that she had been the one who changed her parents, and that she had this power. How do you break it to someone that their girlfriend is, basically, God? Taylor had been discreetly ending a few wars and famines, but wasn't sure if she wanted the responsibility that omnipotence required. Now that she had the chance to make some people happy and solve a few of the world's problems, not to mention make herself into the fabulous woman she had always been on the inside, she would be just as happy if the power vanished as mysteriously as it had arrived.
"How is Michael?"
"Over the moon. His friend Janice is coming in a few days. I've never seen him more excited. I just hope it goes well."
