"But I wanna use the magic camera Ellie!" Becca huffed, angrily marching near the edge of the pool.
She walked up to the lounge chair where she had placed her favorite toy, grabbed it from behind to move it slightly, and once again spoke but in a fake voice.
"Come now Becca, it could be dangerous!" The doll "said" as Becca groaned and sat on the ground in front of the toy.
Becca was frustrated. Earlier that day she had found a magic camera, and accidentally turned herself into a big girl before turning herself back. At first, she was scared, so she hid the camera under her bed, but now wanted to try again. Of course, she still had doubts, which she now funneled through her favorite toy.
Upstairs, meanwhile, Olivia was giggling to herself. She watched below as her precious daughter had an argument with her doll.
"Ugh, too precious!" Olivia laughed, placing the photo in a cabinet carefully. "She'll love to look back on that when she's older." She whispered to herself.
Olivia looked down once more and smiled. Her daughter Becca was too cute. She had extremely messy and curly black hair which always had a pink bow to one side. She had a tooth missing and an adorable jumper to match her bow. She definitely took after Olivia when she was young, but also her husband David ever so slightly she supposed.
Olivia also loved the doll Becca played with, as it used to belong to her as a little girl. The Elegant Elenor, or Ellie as Becca called her, was a cute, old fashioned doll that was old even when Olivia first got it. It had wavy brown hair snug in a blue bonnet, a puffy blue dress, a round, fat and plastic face and even a pull string that ran out of batteries years ago. Olivia loved playing with it, and hoped Becca could even give it to her own daughter one day.
"Well, I should probably bring her inside and make her a quick lunch." Olivia thought as she began to walk downstairs, unaware that just moments ago she had been ready for a swim.
Likewise, downstairs, the young Becca had no idea that moments ago she had been a college aged boy. All she could remember was her eight year life as Becca. The doll, however, could not remember anything. As it was unaware of its change, it only knew itself as an object, and as such, had nothing going through its head. It was a toy, plain and simple.
While Becca continued to argue, with herself essentially, her heated debate was interrupted as her mother slid open the back door.
"Rebecca, it's time for lunch!" Olivia called.
Becca turned back, her face turning a little red as she felt embarrassed to have been arguing with her toy. Her embarrassment soon faded, however, as she spotted what was in her mother's hand.
"Mom!" Becca gasped. "You found my magic camera!" She yelled, surprised her super secret hiding spot was found out.
"Oh, you're magic camera you say?" Olivia chuckled, deciding to play along with her imaginative child. "How is it magic?" She asked.
"It changes you! You, you take a picture, and then... and then flash!" She giggled, holding Ellie up into the sky. "That's when the picture comes out different, and uh, then you're different!" She explained in only a way an energetic child could.
Olivia tried not to laugh.
"So, could I change? I wouldn't mind being a bit thinner or a little younger." She smirked.
"Well yeah, but I think only me and Ellie can know... and I think only when we hold it too?" Becca said, scratching her head. "Idunno, there were a lot of buttons. I forgoted." She shrugged.
"It's just "forgot" honey." Olivia smiled as she patted her daughter on the head. "So, how about we take a picture before we go eat, hmm?" She offered.
"Well... ok." Becca agreed. She had been worried before, but now that her mom knew, it could only go well right?
Olivia held the camera and smiled.
"So, how about...."
