Olivia held the camera and smiled.
"So, how about we-" She began, before the back door suddenly opened back up again.
"Honey, I'm home!" David sarcastically greeted whilst he leaned against the doorway.
Becca gasped, and then ran towards her father. "Daddy!" She called out just before jumping into her father's arms.
Olivia walked up as well, with the camera in one hand and the doll in the other.
"Well, look what the cat dragged in." She teased, leaning in to give him a kiss from a distance, having to lean over Becca with her hands full.
"Nice to see you too hon." He laughed. "Sorry I surprised you guys but Reggie dropped me off early. He figured that I shouldn't have to work much more on the weekend."
"Yay!" Becca laughed, running inside to eat her lunch. "Daddy's home for luuuunch." She sang.
"It's good to see you hun." Olivia greeted more sincerely.
David smiled, but then his smile turned to a frown while his eyebrow raised. "What's that?" He asked, gesturing towards the camera.
"Oh this? I'm not so sure. Becca says it's her "magic" camera. I'm not sure where she got it though." Olivia replied, looking it over.
"Hmm, looks old." David observed. He gently took it from Olivia and started looking it over. "It's got some weird labels on here too... you think this thing could be a collectable?" He asked.
"Hold it David." Olivia scolded.
"What! I know it's important to Becca I'm not JUST gonna sell it, but it at least deserves some investigation right?" He asked, jokingly nudging his wife's arm.
"I suppose, though the first thing we SHOULD do is ask Becca where she got it from. We don't want to sell one of her friends parent's valuables now do we?" She said, handing David the doll in exchange for the camera.
"Good idea." He agreed as he followed her inside.
Becca was sitting at the table, eating her grilled cheese without a care in the world. She glanced over, and as soon as she saw her parents walking in she smiled and handed them her partially eaten piece.
"You want some?" She asked with a garbled mouth.
"Umm, no thanks sweetie." David laughed.
"Baby?" Olivia asked, bending down slightly. "Remember this?" She asked.
"Yeah! That's my magic camera!" She laughed.
"Magic huh?" David laughed. "Well, do you remember where you got your magic camera from?"
"Umm, I found it?" She replied.
"Found it?" Olivia asked skeptical.
"Uh huh." Becca repplied, not making eye contact. She twirled her curly dark hair and kicked her legs back and forth. "I can't really remember... every time I think about it my head hurts. I just remember finding it ok!" She yelled, clearly getting upset.
"Woah woah, sweetie it's ok." David reassured her. "How about this, you show us how this camera works it's magic ok?"
Becca immediately perked up at this. "Okay! But member, only I can see the magic!" She giggled, swiping the camera from her mother before running to the living room. Olivia followed her with David in tow.
"Do you think she's lying?" Olivia whispered.
"It's possible... but I think something genuinely happened with it... maybe something with the camera is odd?" David suggested.
"David, you can't mean-" Olivia spoke a little louder.
"No! No." He went back too whispering. "I'm just saying, she must think it's magic for a reason."
The two reached the living room and found Becca eagerly standing in the middle of the room with the camera held tightly to her chest. She seemed to fiddle around with a switch or two on the camera and then looked up at her parents.
"Okay! Mommy, you sit on the left side. Daddy, you go on the right. Oh, and put Ellie in-between you please!" She asked.
Olivia and David did as she asked, sitting on the couch with the doll in-between them. Both were in thought, wondering what exactly was so strange about this camera. The two put a smile on their faces, and held hands as Becca aimed the camera.
"Say cheese!" She giggled.
