Nicky tossed a 9 and once more landed on green.
“We have heard a lot of different charms but alas so far of no-ones arms. Of all the others in the room whose forelimbs would you chose”
‘Um, I guess I can’t choose my own?’
‘I don’t think so’ said Jen re-reading the card
‘I guess I’d take Amy’s arms. No offence Jen but yours are pretty short’
‘No offence taken Nicky. If I had a choice I’d have your arms…..Okay my turn’
Jen tossed she threw a total of five and landed on a black square. ‘This is different. I wonder what black does?’
A card flipped over Jen read it “Toss again and the number will result in a change requested by default. Do not worry it will fade when tomorrow’s sun casts some shade”
‘What’s that mean?’
‘Well the toss again thing was pretty clear. I think the rest of it suggests you might get a change but that it will only last until dawn’ said Amy who was studying the card.
‘Do you think it could really cause one of these changes to take place? I’m a bit scared’
‘Well if it only lasts till dawn, why not? Go ahead I’m curious’ said Nicky
‘If it was my turn I would toss’ said Eric.
‘Easy for you to say. You’re not the guinea pig.’ Everyone was watching Jen. She felt self-conscious. ‘Okay I’ll do it’ Jen picked up the dice and tossed. She threw an 8.
Nothing happened. They waited for a card to flip over but nothing happened. After a minute of silence Amy shrugged ‘I guess it’s just a game and the changes are in our imagination. Your turn Eric. We are nearing the end. We may as well finish’
Sure enough Amy was only 15 spaces from the end. The others were further back but were over half way.
